BiographyWally Faithfull, co-founder of the 1960's Faithfull Photography Ltd (with wife Barbara) was first and foremost a registered electrician.
Trained by McKay Electrical Dargaville he was later an electrician then sales manager for the Whangarei company.
So his photography work was only ever of a part time nature. Such work covered aerial, general, commercial etc. from 1963 until about 1965 when Barbara added portraiture to the services provided.
Labour weekend in October 1967 saw the opening of the Rose Garden Bridal Studio, upstairs in McKay's new Water Street building. Prior to this the business was run from home, at 16 King Street, Kensington.
In December 1969 the business was sold to photographer Nick Randall of the Northern Advocate.
The Faithfull family, with sons Fraser, 10, and Roger, 8, moved to Auckland, along with a comprehensive collection of samples of their work, some of which, by 2018, has found its way to the city library of Whangarei
