DescriptionThe Northern Advocate building before it moved to its current location in Robert Street. This building is located next to the Rose Gardens, on Water Street.
The Northern Advocate published from this building from 1987 to 2004.
Synonymous with the paper are the Crawford family beginning with Hugh Wentworth Crawford in 1924 through until Bill Crawford junior who resigned as regional manager in 2000 by which time the paper was owned by Wilson and Horton.
Following Hugh's death in 1939 his sons Brian and Bill senior became managing editor and managing director. In 1982 Bill senior took over as chairman of the board of directors and and Bill junior became general manager and his brother Gerald advertising manager.
The Northern Advocate published from this building from 1987 to 2004.
